I see a few of these on eBay; some are stage 1 with only pistons and cylinders, others are stage two kits with 255 cams. Can anyone tell me what compression ratio these are?

A separate, but related question: with one of these kits, lets say stage II (255 cams) and mild headwork.....how would it stack up against a 110" with only pipes, AC and tune?

TIA

Compression is done by doing the measuring and the math. As much as HD heads vary(not to mention deck ht), it is hard to get closer than .25.

DECK THE MOTOR!! Most off front & rear as much as .020.Ive been told it is good for the power balance of the cylinders AND CR from stock up to 9.5 to9.8.Ya dont have to do the heads or dome pistons or ETC!!!!Nice little boost for about $75 to $100.

I appreciate all the replies, but really just looking for the advertised compression ratio for the 103" upgrades from 96".

TIA, F
its listed at 10:1 in the SE catalog with the flat top pistons... i can see Ceraaa's 197 CCP, with 10:1 and a 25 intake close...

I was told by Mike Stegman at Latus HD who has lots of experience with the stg I kit, it comes at 10 to 1 with stock heads. It could stand to be a bit lower & the tune needs to be spot on to control pinging. When they did mine I took all the paint out of the combustion chamber and ports while the heads were off, figured it would help lower the ratio a bit and cleaning up the ports wouldn't hurt.

Advertized @9.3:1 based on appro 87cc head volume,ZERO deck height,1.3cc (.045 head gkt volume, and SE 255 cam.CHeck Big Boyz web site for the link to how you get ccp and final compression. They have 2 103ci setups listed. ONE FROM 88 TO 103 AND 96 TO 103 (bore and stroke)

I just read the write up on the 103" stage II kit and do not see where it states 9.3:1. Are you thinking of the 08 110"s? I think they came at 9.3:1? My 103" stage II has 197lbs compression and I'm pretty sure that equates to more than 9.3.

Dave at JD's, just tuned a 103" of ours that had been tortured for 4 years, prior to tuning it.
Showed 119+ hp and 119+ ft/lbs with our small valve heads.
That power will get around a 110" like it's tied to a stump.:)

someone around new orleans is building some good stuff, I got on this baggers tail on an onramp big wide turn, he was loaded down, had his ol lady on the back, so I got up on his ass, we were moving along pretty good, friggin softail walleren through the turn, and that dude took off, right in the middle of this turn, just smoked me, and like a poof was gone...
I was stunned,
had to pull over and put my head down....

thats some good HP #'s from a SE build, (minus the cam)... curious y u used such a small cam (244dur/42IC) with that compression? did u do a CCP test? wondering if u have a true 10.5 comp... can't believe ur HP is so high with a cam that small, and ur TQ is that low with a cam that small... altho it holds the TQ for a long time... my friend has an HQ build, with the big cam (246/256/47IC) and his CCP is 203, which we figured the comp to be around 10.7, and his #'s r 106hp/116tq

I did not do a compression test. As for the cam, I called Bob Wood and asked him given my parts what he would recommend I went with his advice and here are the numbers. I think my torque numbers might have been higher if I had went with the FatCat vs. Boarzilla on my motor. I am going to ride it for the next few months and come winter (Jan-Feb here) I may try some new things with the motor. I want to do another build but we will see. Where are you at in NY? I grew up in Saratoga Springs, born in Hemprstead on the island but most of my school was upstate.
