Selling Dyna

Not really Dyna specific but I want to keep in my "family" on the board! I have an 06 Street Bob (vivid black) that I need to sell. I'm not sure where to advertise first. I am posting on all the boards I belong to for free. But where I'm stuck is deciding on the local paper first (very few ads) and either cycletrader.com or hdtrader.com. I'm kind of leaning towards the local paper as there are no Street Bobs currently advertised in it.

Anyone have any thoughts? Experiences? Recommendations?

It's probably the least desirable time of year to sell. Not many want to buy a bike and look at it in the garage for 4 months. If you make the price very attractive you may get some interest. Don't expect to recover the cost of extras you added or what you paid for the base bike. We've had good luck with the local newspaper.

Choices

Craigslist is great for free. Only you gotta remember to repost after 30 days.

I have used CycleTrader a few times. I like that option because they have a "run 'til it sells" choice. IFAIAC it's only way to go. It'll cost ya pretty good but I like the idea of "set it & forget it".

The local newspaper is likely to be the worst way to go. It's just an old, out of style media.

My 2 cents anyway.

eBay...

I sold a couple of bikes for friends on eBay. One met the reserve, the other did not. I got tons of emails on the one that didn't make the reserve, and forwarded them to my buddy. He finally negotiated and settled on a price from a guy in Phoenix.

You may not sell it on eBay, but it's worldwide advertising for $40-$50...
