Thinking of upgrading a motor of mine and an torn between which engine to get. The twin cam is about $600 more.

Are there any advantages to the twin cam? or disadvantages.

What would you get?

Thanks

It would be a twin cam with an evo mount. I would put it my chopper that has a 96er now. The switch is not something I need to do, but might want to for the additional power.

After discussing with Ron Dickey at Axtell, I am going with a carbed TC with Evo mounts for my next engine. The TC has several advantages, better oiling, better valve train geometry, the cams have less pressure on them, and several others that went right over my head.If Ron Dickey says the TC is a better platform than an Evo, what else needs to be said?

The heads overheat because they don't flow good so you have to fork over a grand for good heads. The crank side bearings are notorious for going bad so you have to upgrade those, another grand. The cam door and chains suck so there's another grand to get those upgraded. The flywheels slip so you have to have those tig welded in place. Do what you want but there's a reason why you can buy used twinkies all day long for $1200 or LESS at times. THEY'RE JUNK!
